espite the name change, Ostrom wrote that Crichton had confirmed to him that the fictional Velociraptor was modeled after Deinonychus in “almost every detail.”

He was convinced that “the Terror of Jurassic Park really is Deinonychus parading around under an assumed name.”

Very true. Right up to the bit about Grant unearthing them in Montana. Raptors are native to Asia, while only Deinonychus is found in Montana.
