Tim not helping out with the gun
A very crucial scene in the movie was when Dr. Grant, Ellie, Lex, and Tim were in the control room. Lex was trying to restart the system and lock the door to the control room when a raptor appeared in the door window. Dr. Grant immediately ran to the door to push it to prevent the raptor from opening and entering the room and while doing that, dropped the gun that he took from emergency bunker. Ellie immediately ran towards the door as well to help out Dr. Grant in pushing the door. While doing so, Ellie tried to use her foot to retrieve the gun on the floor but was just outside of her reach.
All the while, Lex was busy at the computer attempting to start the security system, while Tim was just standing beside her observing Lex and the computer, and appeared to be oblivious of the dangerous situation.
Did any of you think that Tim appeared to be totally useless instead of trying to help out the adults given the circumstances? Specifically, Tim could have taken the gun and handed it off to Ellie or Dr. Grant. True, Tim was only about nine years old but I'm sure he's observed guns before on television and how to hold a gun. Even as a five year old I could hold the handle of a gun and hand it off to someone else given the emergency situation.
Or at least Ellie should have shouted by saying something like: "Timmy! Hand me the gun!"
