Stupid Question: Why was their club called Joy Luck?
I'm surprised that it hasn't been asked already... Does anyone know?

in the book it says that june's mother came up with the idea b/c she knew that the other mothers came from horrible tragic events in china like she did. their game was about how despite what they had lost that they still had their joy and luck in life, basically and they could remember those things together as they played ma jong it was how to hold on to their joy and luck hence the name hope that helps
