All time favorit by Hong Kong women??

One year I was watching the Miss Hong Kong Beautiful Pageant (or something like that), and the host asked every contestants the same two questions, and surprisingly over 70% of them all answered:

Q) What's your favorite movie - A)The Joy Luck Club
Q) What's your favorite book - A)The Little Prince

Which made me wonder, were they THAT popular? or was it the only movie and book HK women see? I personally ask the same questions to every HK women I get to meet, and what do you know? 8 out of 10 have HEARD of them and (guess what?) never get round to see it, the remaining ratio claimed that they've seem them but was not interesting enough for them to remember what's it about.

What does that tell me? Does Hong Kong women believe that "Joy Luck Club" and "Little Prince" present a higher class of education that if they've seen it, it will show that they have extreme good taste??
