Does the child die??

Sorry but after just about loosing it with Bridge to Terribitha, I can't stand the though of watching another child die. I really don't want to spend 2 hours to be depressed all over again. So please if anyone knows can you please let me know. Thanks...

I assume you mean Jack's little brother...

*Spoilers*

No, he doesnt die. But, once they get him back from the kidnapping, he is basically a traumatized vegetable. He is drastically transformed from his former happy, energetic self to a new countenance of somberness and depression.

It really is quite sad, but no he doesnt die.

*End Spoilers*

No the little boy does not die! *Spoilers* And yes it is very sad at points. But the father and the sons reunite and the Dad does get his job back. So there is a somewhat happy ending culminating in Jack playing the Jack the Bear song that his Mom used to play.

I was hoping the little boy would be all right too (not Jack or Dylan, I knew they were okay, what lucky boys to have such a dad!), but the boy who lost his grandma/mom and was dressed by the Nazi. But that Grandpa just hurt him (though i'd probably be freaking out if another little boy was kidnapped) and there he was smoking and so quiet at the end. Poor baby.
