I just wondred if anyone eles has read the orignal novel and what they thought of it?

On of the finest character-studies of a teenager in literature
If you liked it as well, I´d recommend "Tietam Brown" by Mick Foley.
The book is a little more upbeat than the movie. At one point, a parent breaks up a junior high make-out session with the statement "You are not ladies and gentlemen."
The novel is definitely worth seeking out. I read it when I was in high school (which I guess mean's it's an "old book" Sigh.).
