how old are they supposed to be?

They all look kind of young, and since Jack and Karen are kissing a lot and everything, so i'm just wondering how old they are. does anyone know?

Jack the Bear is 12, Dylan is 3 and Karen is apparently 12, though Witherspoon would've been about 16 when the show came out and little Miko Hughes that played Dylan the three year old would've been closer to 7 (this movie came out in 1993 and Hughes played a three year old in 1990's Kindergarten Cop..)

AAAHH!

That explains it! I have been sitting in front of the t.v for the past 2 hours in shock at how they boy who played Dylan hadn't aged at all in the three years since Kindergarden Cop was filmed, and also at how Reece Witherspoon - who would have been 17 in 1993, would be cast to play the love interest of someone who looked about 12.

Thank-you.

SO. The boy who played Dylan was actually around the same age in both Kindergarden Cop and Jack the Bear (4 or 5), and The boy who played Jack was about 12 or 13. Reece Witherspoon was probably about 14-15 in real life, so the casting choice isn't so bad when you consider that girls hit puberty before boys and so look a little older than boys of the same age during their early teens.

That was more for my own benefit. Sorry for rambling.

I'm sorry, I messed up a bit. Jack is 12, his girlfriend is 12 (Witherspoon was 16), Miko was born in 1986 so in 1993 he was... 7. Kindergarten Cop DID come out 3 years earlier than Jack The Bear- Miko Hughes didn't "age" much when he was little and often played parts significantly younger than his true age (except in Kindergarten Cop where he was younger than his character's age). He was 3 in Pet Sematary but looks more like a year and a half. He was one of those kids who looked younger than they were and were precocious (great for Hollywood!). He plays a 5 year old in New Nightmare when he is 8. If you look at his birthdate and compare the ages of the characters he plays and the filming and release dates you'll see what I mean. :)

It may have been released in 93, but cast in '91 or 92, I can't remember exactly. So, everyone was about a couple of years younger than originally thought.

I was either 15 or 16 at the time when they were casting. I was up for the part of Edward Festinger. I was very, very, very close to getting it, too. This was probably THE ONLY PART that I wished that I had gotten!!! It was an actor's dream part...even more so at someone that young. oh well ;)
