Does anyone else think this is his best role? as good as he is My Left Foot and Gangs of New York I think he is much more effective here as he is playing a truly tragic character.
I haven't seen There Will Be Blood yet so can't comment on that but I'm sure he was great.
I thought you might be worried...about the security....of your sh!t...
It was by no means a flat performance primester. It was an amazing performance and a well deserved oscar nomination. i do not think it was his best though. There will be blood was his best.
I'm not sure really. I loved him as Bill Cutting in 'Gangs of New York', he was so *beep* awesome! Probably one of the most likeable characters throughout the history of moviemaking. Just... lovely.
As Daniel Plainview in 'There Will Be Blood', he was... magnificent. This wasn't Daniel Day-Lewis, this was Daniel Plainview! He WAS this man!
Honestly, i like him equally in both movies. But if there was a character i'd like to see again, it would be Bill Cutting.
My order is: Daniel Plainview Gerry Conlon Bill the Butcher Christy Brown
although I haven't seen Bill the Butcher in a while so the two in the middle could be interchangeable. I loved his performance in my left foot as well but the other three were more memorable for me personally.
I'd have to agree with "kinda flat." In this, he seemed to be reacting more than acting as opposed to "Gangs Of New York" where he "chewed up the stage" - you couldn't take your eyes off him.
He also seemed in this movie to be off a little - as in I thought there were times when he went from mildly amused or calm to raging mad in an instance - it was very uneven.
