The original has slightly bigger laughs, but this one is more rewatchable with less dry spots.

I tried to revisit the first not too long ago and found it wanting as well. I have some hope for revisiting the second one after your words here. I'll try to remember to come back and post my thoughts.

This one is definitely more consistently funny than the first, but you might be right about the first one having a few really big laughs (but, quite honestly, most of the first one was pretty disappointing).

I think it helps that whilst the first film was essentially parodying one specific film, the sequel was lampooning a whole genre of Rambo-style films.

Do I have to watch the first one before i watch the second one? I tried to watch the first a while back and couldn't get into it.
