It does not seem that it is physically possible that this is the same person.

I think it was obvious that he was referring to how built up Sheen was for this film...it takes a lot of effort and a healthy lifestyle to put on that much muscle, two things that Charlie isn't well known for.

He worked to look like that just for this film. Charlie never intended to change his lifesyle or anything.

You work out, you get muscular, many actors do it for a paycheck.

Edward Norton, Christian Bale, Tobey Maguire, Christopher Reeve, James Spader, Linda Hamilton, Gerard Butler, many others.
