Incredibly dated at the time of its release

Does anyone else here think so? I mean, this is a Rambo parody that came out in 1993. At that point it had been five years since the previous Rambo movie, which was a box-office dud, plus you had all kinds of references to Saddam Hussein and the first Gulf War, and by '93 the American public had pretty much moved on from that, not to mention the fact that the Lloyd Bridges character was a spoof of George H.W. Bush, who was no longer President. Anyone agree?

well, as a little kid when this came out, it was one of my faves along with police academy, etc. so theres that.

I'm probably hammered.

Yeah. A parody need not be made at the time when the original was a hit.

By that rational, Young Frankenstein is dated as heck.

Can't stop the signal.

It's much better not to spoof pop culture only from the previous 2 years. That's how a movie becomes dated.

that's what i think is wrong with the latest Scary Movie films (along with many other things, i guess). it seemed like they tried to be current instead of classic.
Rambo might not have been a box office hit, but it's a classic. i know scenes from that movie even though i've never seen it.
and even without the rambo references the movie is awesome. i first watched it when i was a kid and didn't need any references
