Bad Movie, Great Stunt Work

Somehow I missed this movie in the 90's and I like cheesy action flicks. This is a pretty bad movie. Ridiculous plot, bad acting, bad dialogue, etc etc. Kind of what you'd expect from an early 90's Van Damme film.

But the stunt work was incredible. You really don't see stuff like that anymore. It's mostly CGI now. They obviously spent a great deal of time working on their set pieces and carefully constructing each stunt. You have to appreciate the athleticism and risk those guys took to entertain the audience.

Saw it in a packed theater when it came out. Found it to be sorely lacking compared to Hard Boiled, which I had watched on VHS.

The MPAA so castrated the action it's a crime. Much of what was censored would be allowed today. The X rated cut has a hell of a lot more kinetic energy, especially during the finale, which was butchered by the MPAA. I'd say it's one of the worst slice jobs in history.
