No blood?

Aside from the random splash or red paint on the random white bandage. I don't think I saw any blood in the whole movie. When a musket ball hits a human body it blows it into pieces. That doesn't even take into account the cannons. With bodies being shredded limb from limb left to right. Would it have killed them to toss a few blood bag in a few of the soldier's jackets?

It was originally made to be for TV, and you didn't get a lot of blood on TV in 1993 (or even now - War and Peace just last month comes to mind). Besides, it's not really a film one watches for the blood - it's for the story. If you are into blood more than story, then pick something else to watch. There are enough films out there for everybody's taste.

What? The pile of amputated arms and legs in the wagon outside the improvised field hospital (where Longstreet visits Hood in the first scene after the Intermission) wasn't gory enough for you?

This movie came out five years before Saving Private Ryan lowered the threshold (or raised it, depending on your POV) for war movie gore. You can't judge this movie based on that newer standard.
