Reference or Reach?

There is a scene where Sam(Tommy Jones) is talking to his team and they say the situation is "hanke", and Sam says he doesn't like that term. "Hanke" was the name of the guy Tommy Jones' character was pretending to be to get into the country undetected in the movie "The Package".

Do you think that was a reference or am I reaching?

reply

Reaching.

It's "Hinky"
As in nervous or suspicious

reply

Nope.

"Extreme lie or exaggeration" = "Bullshit", just as was said in the film.

Right after Sam complained about the term "Hanke", Deputy Cosmo(Joe Pantoliano) said, "How about bullshit?".

I may still be reaching, but your interpretation/spelling/definition is dead wrong according to the film itself, not my opinion.

Two can play the Urban Dictionary game

And I'll even raise you a literal dictionary

"Dead wrong" LMAO!
If you're going to make the claim you're claiming.... then spelling absolutely does matter.

And yes.... you're reaching. Even more now. Because you're using a definition of a word according to the characters who may or may not entirely know what they're talking about as your evidence....which is the entire point of that conversation.
Game. Set. Match.
