share25th anniversary. One of the better modern films using practical effects and rear-projection. Add to it Harrison Ford's and Tommy Lee Jones' performances and you have a classic. Should be rated higher on IMDB. Time to watch it again.
Here's the comparable movies it beat out: Speed, The Rock, The Hunt for Red October, Con Air, Bad Boys, Presumed Innocent, US Marshals, Air Force One, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Enemy of the State, Witness and more.
I prefer Tommy to Harry, but Ford's alright. Sometimes he gets this look on his face like he's a thirteen year-old, and by golly -- he's not gonna take it anymore, and suddenly kicks his tormentor in the nuts.
Unlike Liam Neeson, who always seems like an Uber fighting machine, Ford seems like an every man who by ingenuity and determination manages to come out on top, even though he'd rather not be fighting at all.
But that "golly shucks" worked well for him, even playing the Prez.
