If this film was made today...

Liam Neeson would fill the role of Dr. Richard Kimble while Denzel Washington would fill the role of Samuel Gerard.

reply

And as much as I like them. It would suck.

reply

It would be a bunch of stunts, cgi, with characters we don't care about.

reply

Or. They could cast Jennifer Lawrence in the Kimble role being chased by Emma Stone.

So, how does the story to that one end? 

reply

........that...... seems right

reply

Taken 3 is similar to The Fugitive

reply

@birse16 I'd actually watch that.

Throw in Famke Janssen as Helen Kimble (a sly nod to the Taken franchise) and I'm there.

If this was made today...

1.After Gerard shot the hostage-taker in the head, Gerard would be fired and the President would send the Attorney General and an army of FBI agents to the location to try to dig up any evidence that the guy's civil rights had been violated.
2. The "Men Only" hotel would be shut down and charged with discriminating against women.
3. The EPA would have taken control of the investigation because of the environmental impact of the train accident.
4. When Kimble went to the jail to talk to the prisoner, he would find that the guy had been released early.
5. There would be protests that the only Hispanic in the whole movie was the janitor whose ID tag Kimble stole, and that the killer was physically challenged.
6. Reporter John Drummond's funky oversized hat would be seen as culturally insensitive.
7. The Polish lady who rented a room to Kimble would not have had her house raided so easily...it would be in a sanctuary city where a crime as minor as selling drugs would not warrant a serious raid like that.

I don't buy that one. Civil rights don't apply to a dangerous escaped criminal who has a gun pointed at someone's head demanding that he be allowed to escape. I suspect Copeland was a killer with how he pointed the gun at that guy's head and demanded to be allowed to escape. Even if Gerard had let him escape you can bet that Copeland would've taken the hostage with him. And it probably would've resulted in the cops going after him on a highspeed chase resulting in him wrecking the car he was in and dying in said wreck.
