Massive plothole
There is such a huge plothole in this film I can't believe no one has brought it up at all.
When Kimble is arrested and charged he is presumably wealthy enough to afford bail. It is heavily implied that leading up to his trial Kimble instructs his legal team to find the real killer. the alleged 'one armed man.' Seemingly to no avail.
During Kimble's dream/nightmare he has recurring flashbacks of his lawyer telling him 'we can't find the guy.' With his desperate plea to 'find that man!' Clearly Kimble's team put effort into trying to identify and locate the supposed true killer but couldn't come up with any suspects.
However when the U.S Marshals speak to Sykes he tells them that he's well aware of the situation and that he went 'over all this' months ago and that he provided himself with an alibi. He says he was interviewed by police/investigators and confirmed he was on a business trip which '15 people verified.'
This means Sykes WAS identified as a potential suspect by Kimble's legal team but covered his tracks with a supposed alibi. If Sykes was interviewed and interrogated then Kimble would have been made aware of this seen his picture and KNOWN that he was the guy. His seeing Syke's picture in his apartment would have not been a shock, and he would have told his legal team that Sykes was 100 percent the guy who did it.
The idea that Kimble's team interviewed and investigated Sykes but that Richard knew nothing about it pre trial is absolutely absurd. The whole 'we can't find the guy' line falls flat. They did find the guy and he provided an alibi.
How can no one have noticed this???
