what state

what state is the setting for the movie?

It takes place in Astoria, Oregon..it took me a while to figure this out, but it is because thats where they filmed and in the movie you can see that they go over The Astoria Bridge. And plus it would have to be somewhere by the ocean so that doesnt leave too many places..Killer Whales are mostly in Pacific Waters, so that would leave Washington and Oregon and yeah, lol. But its Oregon. Hope I helped!

the first part where it shows the kid and his friends panhandling was shot in Portland, Oregon. I am from there and I recognized Pioneer sq. right away! It was wierd seeing it in the movie!

I am from the rose city as well.

Did you notice how while he is supposed to be on the coast you can see him ride his bike across a bridge in Portland which is ninety miles from the pacific?

It was supposed to be one area with the exception of the very beginning which was the San Juans. As Astorians we were confused because we assumed that the kid was picked up at Pioneer Square in Portland but brought to the coast for his foster home. I was an extra and found out that it was supposed to be Astoria but the aquarium is in Newport, OR, his house and the fish market are in Astoria (I was the blonde girl street kid walking with his "bad" friend at the fish market) and a lot of the bridge scenes were in Portland and Newport (though they show the Megler Bridge which is the bridge from Astoria to Washington). Also, the basin where Keiko jumps the jetty is in Warrenton. Hope that helps!

Nope!! I mean, I dunno where the park is suppose to be in the movie, but the tank in which willy is in movie 1 and where people sits to see him, it's in Reino Aventura theme park in Mexico city, Mexico, nowadays it is Six Flags Mexico, but there's no more Keiko in there. I'm absolutelly sure of it cuz, it was a huge deal when the filmakers came to mexico to make the movie!

If that nope was to me I was specifically answering the question of where the movie was supposed to be set. They never said a town that I recall--and while we locals thought it was set in Astoria prior to seeing the movie, we were confused once watching due to the different areas we recognized (the kid would ride his bike from his house in Astoria across a bridge in Portland to an aquarium in Newport).

Yeah the park is in Mexico. Keiko is not there anymore because he was sent to a bay in Norway I believe. He died of pnemonia like 4 or 5 years ago I think.

I would assume Washington because they had Washington lisence plates. I would assume Portland, and Astoria were both supposed to be the same town in the movie. I would assume it was a town in the movie in WA like Seattle. But they sure did a poor job lol. I recognized the Pioneer Courthouse Square and the Max train in the background, Waterfront Park, the Oregon Convention Center when Jessie rides his bike across the bridge.

People who have been to Astoria would recognize the town too because of the bride.

Oh yeah at the beginning of the movie, one of Jessie's friend's mentions the ferry to a stranger and he tells him "Get out of here."
There are no ferries here in Portland so it's obvious it's supposed to take place in northern WA where the islands are and the Puget sound, etc. There are lot of ferries up there.
