Irony I found in the church house scene

Nothing huge, but caught myself chuckling with all of the townspeople convened in the town church, discussing what was going on and what they were going to do with Travis missing, when one of the men piped up from within the group, and stated "how does anyone expect us to believe this, everybody knows theres no such thing as UFOs" I just found that enlightening as they sit in a church declaring it, pretty humorous, to me at least, i'm sure many of you wont see the comedy in it, but perhaps a few of you will.

Unfortunately it's not uncommon. Go to any Tom Cruise film page and you'll find Christians condemning him for his "nutty" ideas. Nutty they may be but no more so than a boat holding two of every animal on the earth.

reply

Don't Even get me going bro, it's really quit remarkable, when Tom was a good old Christian(not that I have ever read he was anywhere) but an assumed one, the masses loved him, boy what happens when you step outside the heavenly fathers plan, huh?

reply

I think he was already a Scientologist back in the 1980s.

But anyway, I never noticed that line from the church scene before. I'll pay more attention next time I watch the movie . And I agree with your first post. It's like that well-known saying about someone thinking their *** doesn't stink.

Nothing funnier and more pathetic then reading atheist again attacking religion and religious people. Notice how you don't see a bunch of religious people attacking atheists, wonder why. There is absolutely no proof UFO's or aliens exist, there is plenty of overwhelming proof a God or creator exists in some way or another. No scientist has been able to come up with anything that proves or even likely proves God or a creator does not exist, just a bunch of unproven theories.

reply

Well depending on where you go (in the real world or on the internet) you will see religious people "attacking" atheists. Anyway, I partly agree with your view about aliens. Considering how vast the universe is, there are most likely some intelligent species out there. But there is no evidence that aliens have come here and abducted people. However, using your own argument...scientists haven't disproven the possibility that at least one human has been abducted by aliens.

Nobody attacking anything here, but I find it interesting your statement about all the "proof" of the other, I don't recall anybody anywhere at anytime ever being able to prove anything regarding religion, or a deity, so thats very interesting to me, that and how sensitive you are, being I never even remotely kind of attacked anything, just merely found an amusing part of a movie, that was all.

reply

Oh that was pretty sneaky, you havent seen anything that begins to prove or disprove a creator or god doesnt exist huh? well as crafty as you want to word it, the key is to prove it does exist, Atheists don't have to prove a negative, therefore it isnt needed to prove it doesnt exist, but good try.

reply

As a believer you have what is called the "burden of proof" of a deity upon you. As evolutionists, we approach it also, using evidence as a detective would try to recreate a crime. It's a "which is more likely"scenario. And each day we find more evidence that evo is likely to have happened, from simian DNA & fossils, all the way to human behavior. "Faith" is defined in Webster's College Dictionary as belief without "proof". It might not provide comfort but it does provide intellectual integrity. Whether you choose integrity over comfort depends on an ever expanding "leap of faith"due to increasing evidence in evo and the acceptance of religion as being obsolete, despite those who choose to remain stubbornly locked in the past. It's better to have a wrong explanation, than none at all. If a billion people believe an absurd thing, it is still absurd.

You are very easily amused.

I am easily amused, you got that right!

As an atheist, you believe that something can come from nothing.

That's as silly as it gets. Good luck with that.
