Was it ever established what his first two names are? I've always had the sneaking suspicion it was something like "James Tiberius", like Captain James T(iberius) Kirk.

I think "J.T." is his actual given name . . . because he's just that country with it.
I agree, I have met a dude named J.D. they didnt mean anything, just JD and yet he had a normal middle name
