I cried practically through this whole movie. I mean seeing how we have come a long from segregated schools, restaurants, not being able to vote to having blacks in office.....black president. I had tears of joy but, I also had tears of sadness because of the way we were treated then
shareI thought that I was the only one. I cried too during most of the film. It was just absolutely painful to watch how the students were being treated. I am so glad that they excelled in the end.
shareJust didn't make any sense to me how we were treated and looked at back then! The opportunities that we have now, all black children should be grateful for.
Some people say that we need to forget things, but with how much courage it took for these people to push through to get into an integrated school there's no reason why black people should forget this!
This was not more than a century ago!
This kind of stuff went on not too long ago, it's really creepy to realize how it wasn't too long ago. It's very sad that this ever happened!
That was my first exposer to that subject in history and I was just a little girl when it aired on tv. I just upset me that we as human beings have so much hate for each other like that.
shareYeah this movie is sad. You should read the book "Warriors Don't cry" written by one of the female Little Rock students.
It goes into more detail and is FAR more intense. To the point where it's unbelievable how badly they were bullied and harrased by the students and protestors.
