is this a thriller?

I remember this was marketed as a thriller when it was initially released in theatres. According to IMDb, it is a "drama/romance." Can anyone tell me if this film has any thriller elements? Thanks.

Mysgostic? I don't know, but i'm about 90% sure it has something to do with dummies.

There would only be one scene nearly at the end of the movie that would be considered a "thriller" aspect. However, the majority of the movie could never be considered anything but drama/romance. Frankly, it is my favorite Gabriel Byrne movie. He turns in an excellent acting performance and I don't think I have ever read anything regarding it since Debra Winger gets most of the notice in the movie. I think Barbara Hershey did a fine job but I did not think it anything that outstanding where she would get more attention for her role than Byrne did for his.

Karen, I really agree with you about Gabriel Byrne's performance in this film. I have just been enjoying him on HBO's new series In Treatment. He is wonderful in this and, as I watched an episode where he must portray extreme emotion without a lot of physicality, I kept wondering what he reminded me of, and then this film popped into my memory.

In an article where Byrne talks about deciding to "be naked" in the new HBO series (not using props like eye glasses or funny accents to hide behind, so he and the audience can really focus on what is going on with the character), I thought of the scene in A Dangerous Woman when he sits in the pickup truck and cries. I can't recall a more "naked" and elemental portrayal, a more real scene--and that was 15 years ago!

He is a remarkable actor and I don't think he will ever get the attention he deserves, but that's okay, since he seems to be a very private person anyway.

Check out In Treatment if you get the chance. Gabriel Byrne is amazing.
