Steffie was definitely insinuating that Carlito was gay

I thought she was just flirting but what you said makes sense....

Also as soon as she says the comment how come you don't have a woman he see a women dancing who reminds him of his love. And then goes about tracking her down. Al pacinos only played one gay role (dog day afternoon)

Steffie just wanted to sleep with Carlito, and got aggravated that he never tried anything. She got around at the club (both Kleinfeld and Benny Blanco), and Carlito was on her list; probably at the top, being that he was the boss and an underworld celebrity.

She tries making an advances at him on the job, but it doesn't work. So at the party, she's all coked up, and directly asks Carlito what the problem is, telling him to forget her relationship with Kleinfeld, because he can't get it up anyway with all the coke he's doing.

She was just being pushy trying to get what she wanted, not telling Carlito she thinks he's trapped in the closet, lol.

This is carlito brigante mother *beep* to tha max you're talking about here. No way in hell stefi was thinking that. He never tried to mess with her because 1. She was wild as hell and on dope and carlito didn't want that problem 2. He was into making it right with Gail and messing with stefi would've messed that up.

I agree with the others. She was pissed her nasty little hoochie woochie wasn't getting the attention from him she thought it deserved.
When I read your post, the first scene you mentioned jumped out at me. (because it always does regarding her and him)Not the party scene but one earlier in the movie when he is at the club and she asks "What's a good lookin dude like you doing without a woman?" He's watching a girl that reminds him of Gail dance.
The next time you watch it, pay attention to that scene. As the camera pans to focus in on Gail, keep an eye on Steffie's face. There is noooo mistaking the "Ohh I'm gonna get that!" look on her face. I don't think she thought he was gay, I think she was just a typical hustler using what she had to try and get what she wanted.
