Whay were John and Paul wearing dresses on stage? John was wearing a tutu i think. please answer

if i remember correctly, the guys performed in Germany a lot and for many hours at a time, and to keep themselves entertained and awake, they had to do a bunch of crazy stuff like dress up on stage (and appearntly John wore a toliet seat once! lol) and they also had to do a lot of "uppers" too
