I have the same company's Drowning by Numbers dvd, and it was a good remastering, so this is wonderful news. I'm so thrilled...

Thanks for the news! Any word on what region these will be? (A, B, all-region?)

reply

The DVD will be region 2. The website still does not state whether the blu-ray will be all region or not. Is there anyone who can read the language who can tell us if there is any info there I'm not getting?

Just watched the blu-ray (the scandinavian from Atlantic), and I must say it's a fairly good transfer well worth buying. There's no extras on the disc, but this isn't something that bothers me personally.

This isn't brand new hollywood blockbuster, so the movie obviously isn't blu-ray reference quality, but for a 1993 movie it still holds up pretty well.

The image is rather pleaseing. The colours are very vivid and the movie has been cleaned up very well. No dust or specks anywhere. The movie has a fairly soft look, possibly because of some noise reduction. I still think this mostly have to do with the choices of lenses and cameras.

Unless Criterion decides to do a blu-ray release of this movie, I very much doubt there will be a better release in the forseeable future.

The sound is all right, since this is a dialog driven movie. You get a stereo track, and you can hear the dialogue without problem. You only get the scandinavian subtitles, but these can be turned off.

I thought the BluRay looked awesome. I had only ever seen it on VHS before. Despite no extras, if you enjoy this movie you will not be disappointed!
