[MT. Brighton is the hill they work at in the beginning of the movie]
ive seen pictures of this movie at my work, but i finally just saw it the other day (or at least the part with my little town in it) its really cool to see a local ski hill in a movie. as far as the part about them living in detroit, which is about an hour away, its totaly unrealistic since mt brighton is a tiny hill and theres many other hills between brighton and detroit.
and its pronounced mackinaw, not macinac. or at least thats how we pronounce it around here.

Agreed. That "Macki-nack" pronunciation is the only flaw in the Michigan setting. However, I grew up skiing at Mt. Brighton and I don't know of any ski hills between Brighton and Detroit. Maybe Alpine Valley, but its in a different direction.

There is definitely no other hills between Detroit and Brighton. There is the hill up in Holly but thats north according to my compass.
