A SoCal - Midwest culture shock must!

You are guaranteed to like it if:

1) You grew up in Southern California & have moved to the Midwest anytime thereafter

2) Have any inkling of appreciation for the surfer culture

There are also many other reasons to appreciate this low budget, "cool" film.

The music, retro look at the career of Seth Green & Jack Black, and the list goes on. Keep the expectations reasonable, sit back on a winter day (or any other) & chill. HBO faithfully airs it during winters.

Buy it and enjoy!

Te movie is cool but the midwest is nothing like that, but since it's ohio i'll let it go.

Wow as someone who has lived in and out of Ohio I couldn't believe how far off the whole portrayal of Ohio was. The worst had to be the ND/MN accent that was trying to be passed off as a southern Ohio accent. The other was the "simpleness" of many of the ohio characters. True, many rural parts of Ohio are not the most sophisticated, but Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati are not the backwards cities Hollywood likes to make them out to be.

But I get the culture shock issue having lived in both Atlanta and Irvine, CA.

I agree-- PLUS hockey is NOT a big sport here. I only know ONE person who played it, and i don't think any HS teams play it. Lived here 39 years and NEVER saw a street hockey game. Nevermind our minor league hockey team that draws 3,000 a game.

Cincy is baseball and football-- hockey is NOTHiNG here--- this movie infuriated me-- made a city with a 5 month summer and a 2 month winter look like FARGO-- nevermind the characters...
