DVD - How about it?

I find it unacceptable that this film is not available to buy on a legit DVD. I have 2 pirated copies, one has Chinese subtitles that can't be turned off, the other has terrible video quality. That is despite the increased expense of said copies over what a normal DVD would cost.

Is it that much to ask that a real DVD be released? I was able to buy authentic DVDs of some of my obscure favorites from the 80's and 90's, such as Gleaming the Cube and The Wizard, but not Airborne.

So, how about it Warner Brothers? I have money burning a hole in my pocket reserved for a real Airborne DVD.

I'd love to see a DVD of this as well. Me and a bunch of friends were hanging out reminiscing on childhood TV shows and movies and it was decided I should host a movie night, Airborne being the headliner. Now I see this will be nearly impossible.

Probably cause there arn't any black stars in the movie, might be one reason!?

What I want to know, is how come we can obscure foreign films and really old american made movies released every once in a while here, but still not get a legit copy of Airborne put out on dvd. Even though the countries where we get the obscure foreign films from, can get a "legit" copy of the Airborne movie 5 or 10 years after it gets released there.

We have about as much of a chance of seeing this on dvd, as we do as seeing other greats like "Gleaming the Cube" and "Rad". :-(

Believe it or not, this has just been added to Netflix's "Watch Instantly" service, so you can watch it on your Roku Player, LG Player, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, etc.

They do not have the DVD version, so it's quite cool that people will actually be able to see this now. I look forward to it.

you can a get region 3 copy its not a private only release asia but can get it from amazon & ebay,idon't think the wizard is realead but you can get gleaming the cube

The movie was once available on DVD in the UK. There is a guy on the internet that is known for making good avi files of movies you can't get here in the US. In the past I have found great titles from him such as Airborne, The African Queen, and a few others I can't quite think of at the moment.

I have since converted it to DVD. It's the proper aspect ratio and it doesn't have any hard subs, and is a very good quality, keeping in mind the transfer wasn't the best and it isn't quite up to the standard of traditional DVDs.

As for Gleaming the Cube and The Wizard, you can get both of them on DVD. Gleaming the Cube had a very very small run so your best bet would be ebay, though you could probably find it at a store new/used for $25-$30 if you get lucky. The Wizard you can get on amazon for pretty cheap.

Not sure why movies like this don't come out on DVD, a stripped down version wouldn't really cost much and the company could press a copy per request if they needed to. ::shrugs:: who knows.

The DVD is now available at WarnerArchive.com. There are no extra features other than the original trailer but the movie looks good and is presented in widescreen.

Beat me to it. You can find it there for 20 bucks (27 after shipping/tax). And it's a great transfer, better than any of the DVDRips i've found anywhere online... definitely worth it if you're a fan of this flick...

Just updating my old post. I purchased the new copy from Warner Brothers...it looks and sounds great! Highly recommended for Airborne fans. It feels really good to get a true copy!

Does it come with coverart and all that? Does it look like a real dvd? Don't have experience with "print on demand" stuff.

I bought the DVD from WBshop last week, arrived yesterday. The transfer is pretty good, and yes it comes with cover art.

No special features or anything (except the trailer).

Feels good to be able to watch this movie again!

Yes! I just ordered a copy. My wife will be happy to get that two hours back on the DVR.

I bought a copy from Amazon about a week ago. The quality appears to be quite good.
