I remember when thismovie was showen on Danish television about 12 years ago, a lot of people was telling me that they ve een other movies with a repeating day. I Remember something about movie where some bloke catches a boy from a tree, causee the day was repeating and he predicted that would happen again.
There are at least three movies that come to mind immediately as well as one episode from the new Outer Limits (DEJA VU Season 5, 9 July 1999) that deal with the repeating day plot.
1) Groundhog Day 2) 12:01 3) Retroactive
I'm sure there are others, it seems after Groundhog Day this became a hot theme for films.
FYI - The "Showtime short" version of 12:01 PM actually came out a couple years before "Groundhog's Day" - in 1990. Two drastically different takes on the same theme - and both excellent!
You may think that it would get boring or stagnate, no it did not. It became very complicated.
In short. Police detective Brett Hopper (Taye Diggs) keeps living the same day over and over to make matters worse he's being/been accused for the murder of the Assistant District Attorney Alberto Garza. Hopper believes the death is the cause of his time bounce since shadowy figures are trailing him. There is a large conspiracy surrounding the man's demise and the detective's own family.
It was an excellent show that deserved better. On the bright side, the whole series is on DVD and a special edition too! SEEK it out.
What I liked was Hooper at one point got so jaded about the situation that he just just took off with his girlfriend (Moon Bloodgood), a repeating vacation.
What about the German film Run Lola Run? I also remember another film I saw ten years ago when I was in Europe, it was an American film with some recognizable faces, and it had this theme as well. So there's a whole bunch of movies with this theme.
