Ultimately it is unnecessary technology and intrusive because many of us are allowing it to intrude. So easy for us to fall into those kinds of traps because we think of technology as something to consume rather than utilise consciously and carefully. Everybody seems to be swept up in the latest technical fad, unthinking but desiring things that are exotic. As the episode argues, it is a good idea to step back and reflect about what we're doing and what we're utilising and how and why. We should avoid dependency on technology and value our privacy more.

Why must we use smartphones for everything and automatically call up digital credit to pay for services? It's not compulsory - it's psychologically pushed by corporate interests and many governments to make it seem inevitable. It's not.
