Which Ranger was Tommy the best at? Or, I guess I should say, which one suits him best? Yeah, I know most people are going to say the Ranger he was when they first started watching, but I'd still like to know what others think. Me personally, I always thought he was best as the Green Ranger. It just seemed the most suitable and coolest for him. The studio seems too think so too based on him being the Green Ranger in Super MegaForce. Maybe that's just me saying Green since I watched from the beginning, but it was his origin, and, I feel, the one he most identifies as. So, what's your pick?
Green Ranger White Ranger Zeo Red Ranger Turbo Red Range Black Dino Ranger
They were all special in their own ways, though my least favorite is Red Turbo Ranger, Tommy just didn't do much with that other than being the one power he passed on to another. That's not knocking the Turbo team, it simply felt to me that was the one power not meant for Tommy, hell he seemed more distanced from social activities with his friends than when the Green Ranger. Red Turbo Ranger mostly came off like his heart wasn't into it, at least after the Turbo film, to me the character was beyond ready to move on.
I do feel the character was most at peace with Zeo Ranger V Red, something special resonated with Tommy as he faced his most personal trials, not just with battling a new evil force in the Machine Empire. He broke up with Kim, found his brother, brought back Jason, everything surounding his amnesia arc all made for some great strides for development after three prior seasons. Tommy also made sure this was the power he used when needing to stop the Empire one last time in "Forever Red", he had his most vast arsenal of zords in this power, hell if people think the Christmas Zeo ep's future as canon it's the power he tells his grandchild stories of.
Mighty Morphin White was Tommy at his most inspirational, his most pure as the power represented his purest inner light, hell the Falcon variation of his second zord with this color basically was his soul's inner animal. He took on the mantle of leader very well and became far more dependable in battle, being part of the team was no longer a burden to get redemption, this was something he wanted and felt truly good and joyful for. The main drawback was he had to lose it twice over in devastating fashions, but it was also the longest tenure as he fought with both White-Tiger/Tigerzord and Ninja Power Coins for about a year and a half as Saba became his oldest weapon.
Mighty Morphin Green is where Tommy's legacy began and where it may have ended, not my favorite as taking on the power became more a burden, but it did shake things up as the character had his own arc going on after getting his powers back where they would eventually be used up. I really respect the consistency in showing this was the one power that could corrupt Tommy, it still haunted him even into his days as White Ranger, it took alot to be able to handle that kind of power. Green Ranger pre-Candle was Tommy probably at his most powerful, a power his clone kept in the past, the power he chose to use again in the Legend War.
Black Dino Thunder Ranger may be my favorite, which is ironic considering we never see Tommy in a helmetless stand-by shot in the suit and he only pilots the zords a few rare times. To me, this power represented Tommy's leadership at its best, his heart was truly 100% into the job for the first time since becoming Red Turbo Ranger, not to mention the needful mentorship he gives Rangers like Conner as he strives to become a potential leader and Trent following his own evil Ranger tenure. It was with Dino Thunder when Tommy Oliver learned the power doesn't define the hero, but what that man is willing to fight for that defines so much more.
Superman & The [Red-Blue] Blur = The Man of Steel
The Black Dino Charge Ranger was Tommy at his Best But the the Green Ranger is still the most Original But Tommy as the Red Turbo Ranger is not that Bad
