*MASSIVE SPOILERS* Everyone who found out Clark's secret...

...either went nuts/was permanently disabled or DIED.

Has anybody else noticed this? I mean, there are some pretty gruesome examples for people who died in this show after finding out that Clark was Superman:

++++++ MASSIVE SPOILERS ++++++

- Spencer Spencer: He found out and tried to cut off Clark's head. For that, he got freeze-breathed in the face by Clark and was later "accidentally" smashed to pieces.
- Woody Samms: He switched bodies with Clark, thus being Superman for a while and got shot at the end. Technically, he did not die, he switched bodies with a little doggie at the last moment, but he did get permanently disabled from ever divulging Clark's secret to anyone.
- The guy from "Virtually Distroyed": He got caught in his virtual reality forever, so he also got effectively disabled.
- Nigel St. John: He knew the secret and got promptly poisoned to death by the main villain at the end of season 2
- The frog-eating Lois clone: Duh!
- Lex Luthor: The guy even died twice! The second time, he had just found out Clark's secret.
- Lord Nor & his evil cohorts: They got kryptonite-gassed to death!

In fact I believe only two people (and Lois) ever escaped the "jinx":
- Tempus never got killed, but maybe that was because he knew the secret from the very beginning. And also - he was declared insane when he tried to expose Clark.
- The above mentioned main villain in the season 2 finale: He got Clark's secret from Tempus' diary from the past, but Clark burned to book and thus disabled the guy from ever divulging his secret to anyone without risking public humiliation and so on. Also, the guy went to jail for killing Nigel.

So... 5 Deaths, 2 misplaced souls, 1 insanity and 1 murder charge later, Clark's secret is still save - because everyone who found out is dead!

Please correct me if I got anything wrong here or misunderstood any of the above examples, but I think letting people die all the time seems a little extreme for our Mild-mannered Reporter.

Ha, you're totally right. I forgot about Jack. As for the smart kids - they went back to being "dumb kids" and nobody would have believed them if they had ever told anyone what they knew.

Nice Les Miserables signature, btw :-)

Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

You forgot one, the female police detective who had a crush on Clark but hated Superman...forgot her name. She was blown up in a car and Clark ripped his shirt trying to save her. She saw the "S" under his shirt and promply dropped dead!

H.G. Wells & Dr Bernard Klein were trusted confidants and well aware of Superman's identity. Admittedly, CK's circle of trust was pretty small, but yours is a point very well taken.

Jason T. Masek, the Jewelry store owner who teamed up with Nigel at the end of season two, knew who Clark really was and was not killed or maimed. He just went to prison.
