Why didn't Superman just tell Lois that Lex was a bad person?

Around the end of Season 1 Lex proposes to Lois and as Lois is making her decision she talks to Clark and then to Superman. She wants to know how Superman feels about her first before making her decision to Lex.
What I don't get is what is stopping Superman from just saying "Clark told me Lex Luthor proposed to you". And then telling her exactly the type of person Lex Luthor is and why she should say no?

That would end the stupid Lex Luthor wedding arc right there.

I agree. And she has such a big ego. She thinks she is all that and a bag of Doritos.
He was right not to tell her that her boyfriend was a douchebag dickhead asswhole twat. She wouldn't have believed him for a second and she would really resent the words. This would have been something she would have to see for herself.
