It's Christopher REEVE and George REEVES!!!!!

GOD THIS IS FOREVER PISSING ME OFF ON THIS BOARD!!

CHRISTOPHER REEVE was the actor who played clark kent/superman in the movies...

GEORGE REEVES was the actor who played clark kent/superman in the 50s television show. he needed padding. it is also all but proven he killed himself over the show being cancelled.

BOTH had very similar last names and both suffered terrible and untimely deaths/accidents subsequently leading to death.

Lets make it more confusing, there's also Keanu Reeves no relation & Steve Reeves
who twice played Hercules, Reeves was not George's real surname.

In an issue of Jimmy Olsen Jim writes a book about Super and one of the ideas he kicks around is Superman going back in time and becoming Hercules & Samson.

One point though. Adventures of Superman wasn't cancelled till George Reeves died. Matter of fact they were starting work on a sixth season when he died.

Sorry make that the seventh season that was in its beginning phases when Reeves died.

Yeah from what I remember he killed himself not because the show was being canceled, but because it wasn't being canceled. He didn't want to do it anymore and was becoming increasingly depressed.

that is what I heard too. I heard that his ghost is seen in the house where he killed himself. he is standing at the top of the stairs, holding the gun and wearing the superman outfit.
