Quality of the pilot was best but the rest is still fun

Started watching this again.

Being a teenager of the 90's and a Superman fan this is ultra nostalgic to watch as it really is just so 1990's. It's still a lot of fun to watch and it just has a really nice feel to it even though it takes huge liberties with the Superman world as a whole.

It has some issues though. The effects were excellent in the pilot but after that they were dreadful and I never quite understood that sharp drop in production values as it did kind of ruin the feel a bit. The suit was a bit off as well which is a shame becasue they had it pretty good in the pilot but the suddenly went with this low cut top with the cape pinned to the shoulders and a massive S shield that was way too big.

I liked Dean Cain's more modern and confident Clark Kent but I don't think he was a very good Superman. He always stood hunched folding his arms and looked very awkward in the suit plus the fact he didn't really make an attempt to differentiate the two characters at all, not even an attempt at a voice change like Christopher Reeve did. He was still very likeable though.

Love Lane Smith's Perry White and Terri hatcher was really good as Bossy Lois. Love slutty Cat too as she brings some great humour to the show.

It's biggest problem though is one that happens with a lot of American TV shows in that there were just too many episodes and not enough ideas so a lot of them were pretty bad filler and resorted to silly plots or monster of the week but when it was good it was good.

It's good clean entertainment and a lot of fun which is very refreshing considering the fact that almost everything it seems has to be dark and gritty these days which is tiresome (Even Superman himself has become moody which really doesn't work)

It's a shame they didn't keep the high production values past the pilot and trimmed down some of the crap episodes as it would of been a bit better.

Still, It's a pretty era defining show especially for my generation and I'm very glad it still hold up.

His suit looked better in the pilot, \S/ was more medium and the design of it was like the one you often see in promotional stuff, posters etc.
