Seasons 3 + 4

I remember the Lois & Clark show fondly from my childhood but I never saw the later seasons. I recently found seasons 1 & 2 on dvd and while certain things date the show and it's far more light-hearted (at times even campy) than I remember, that's part of the fun. The tone can at times be inconsisitent, like the writers were unsure whether they were making a family show with a mix or action, comedy and romance or a kid's show with over-the-top stories and performances.

From what I've gathered most fans feel that season 3 & 4 (especially 4) really went down hill and I'm wondering whether I should watch them or just appreciate the first 2 seasons.

Glad you enjoyed the first 2 seasons. It's true that season 3 and 4 were weaker but s3 still had some great episodes. It only really went downhill during s4. The season 3 premiere was one of my favourite eps and Season 2 also ends in a cliffhanger so you should at least that ep. S4 can be skipped because a lot of it was bad but if you want to see a married L&C then it's worth a watch (there are a few good eps as well). The relationship of L&C remained consistently strong throughout the 4 seasons and I think the problem was that the story lines got worst.

It's one of those days...

Are the first two seasons better? Yeah. But the last two are still worth checking out if you love the first two. I could never pick up a show and not finish it because a lot of fans didn't think they were as good.
