Similar to Night Court?

I looooooove Night Court - and John Larroquette is fabulous in it. But I have never seen this show and am wondering if you would say it has a similar "feel" to NC. Not that it really matters at the moment, since it's not on and isn't available on DVD, but, y'know, just in case it ever pops up somewhere. Is it a crazy funny show like NC was?

Hi ya, It was similar to Night Court as far as being in a setting where you would be seeing a group of odd and or unique characters weekly, but the serious storylines that would come up wouldn't be as goofy and syrupy as on Night Court. Don't get me wrong----it was goofy with goofy characters----but the serious storylines were pulled off much better, especially the main storyline of John dealing with alcoholism. Hope the 1st season comes out on DVD someday. Don't worry too much about the rest of the series (not John's fault). The network ruined it with drastic changes and turned it into another boyfriend/girlfriend show spending most of their time at their apts., not the bus station. Be Well, Turtleturk

It has been a long time since I have seen this show but I would say it has a similar feel for me because of John Laroquette. It was pretty good and watched it often. Night Court was really nutty with Dan fielding being a sex crazed lawyer, Phil being the bum and sidekick for Dan, Harry Stone another nut that is a Judge, Bull and Selma.

No, only superficially similar. The writing was smarter and sharper, the narrative was much more substantial. The first season was tantamount to sensational. This was a dark ride; and that was the framed sign that John had hanging in his office: “This is a dark ride.”
