Something funny about the unemployment story arc.
In the episodes where the KACL staff were laid off due to the format change, Frasier was holding out, waiting for another radio gig. He was acting as if radio was the only thing he could do. He was a highly qualified psychiatrist and could have gone back into private practice if he wanted to. It's quite a funny subtext that Frasier's ego was such that he didn't even give much thought to going back to the thing he'd originally trained for, instead wallowing in the idea that he was now useless if he couldn't be (somewhat) famous.
