2 Hot Lips and the MASH TV and Movie Cast Together on the Show

Not only did Diagnosis Murder bring in the cast of the MASH tv show, but they included Elliot Gould and Sally Kellerman from the movie. Loretta Swit and Sally Kellerman shared on screen time, so you had both Hot Lips seen together.

This made Good TV.

Yes, I'm watching it now and wondering about the Mash connection. How did this happen?

Just watched this one. Loretta Switt had not aged gracefully.

I'm thinking DVD knew some of the MASH cast or was a fan of the show. Too bad they couldn't get AA

Diagnosis Murder did a number of fun 'theme' episodes as I call them. The one in question about the MASH cast, there was also one about Catering which had cast members from Happy Days (well, to be correct, it had cast of Happy Days and Spin-offs), there was also one about Jessie's spy father which had cast from old 60s spy shows, one about alien's with cast of star trek (before anyone says anything, Bill Mumy was in an episode of DS9 around the same time.. but he was probably there for the link to Babylon 5, or Lost in Space (among others)) etc. of course, we could point out a number of themes, returns of charaters like Matlock, Van Dyke episodes where half the family is in it.

How or why they decided and were able to get the cast together for some of these is a minor issue. Why is probably 'We thought it would be fun', how is just a matter of going to the agents and finding a free time and the cost.

It was a great episode, and it also featured Christopher Norris, who starred in from Trapper John, M.D., a TV series spin-off from the MASH movie.
