Cracker vs House M.D.

Well, I've never seen Cracker but I have heard a lot of good stuff about the show from a variety of sources. I come here and the official description reads....

"An abrasively eccentric forensic psychologist aids in the solving of difficult police cases."

I couldn't help but thinking that if I changed a two word it would describe House M.D. perfectly...

"An abrasively eccentric diagnostician aids in the solving of difficult medical cases."

So, my question is, how does this show compare to House. Are the two shows as similar as their descriptions? I love House M.D., would most of the fans of Cracker think that means I should like Cracker as well (and get my hands on a copy of the series to watch)
