Changed songs on DVD

I recently watched the US DVD of the UK show and was surprised to see that the soundtrack had been altered from when originally broadcast, presumably due to licensing problems. For example I remember in 'True Romance' they played D-Ream's 'Things can only get better' during Janice's sister's wedding, but it's gone now, replaced with some music I've never heard of. I think the music where Mark is making out with his girlfriend in 'Men Would Weep' is different too, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me if the UK DVDs are the same? Thanks.

I can't.

But usually when music is changed it is because of the greed known as copyright - so its likely it is the same all over.

Yes, the music has been changed for generic music in the UK releases sadly too.

Noticed in the First Season, debut episode "The Mad Woman In The Attic" his son Mark is outside the house with some friends smoking and drinking and in the background there is "James - Live A Love Of Life" playing, also in the second story "To Say I Love You", Tina & Sean are seen making out to "Cocteau Twins - Pandora" playing in the background.

Currently the first and second season of Cracker is being shown on Virgin Media Cable TV service here in the UK for those that have a V+ box with TV On Demand service, the episodes are unabridged with the original music intact, compared to the DVD releases which are abridged.

Personally, it minorly detracts from the episodes with the DVD releases, because it features music of that era, students in the early 90s alternative music, reminds me of my University days of listening to Cocteau Twins, James etc etc.
