Why Scunthorpe/Grimsby?
I must have missed something, but can anyone explain why Fitz refers to these two towns instead of saying 'Cheers' when taking a drink? Thank you.

shareIn the story "To Be Somebody", his wife tries to get him to stop drinking: she says "That's not the answer"
He replies "Scunthorpe...it's the answer to "Name a town West of Grimsby" "
(or words to that effect). In other words, it depends on the question.
Thanks Ian, excellant.no wonder I missed it! Been bugging for yonks!
Such a small love. Such a little tear.
OK, but he refers to Scunthorpe on at least two other occasions when it seems like a complete non-sequitur or even a toast, like SKOAL or SLAINTE. Just a reference to his original point?
