Missed Story & Character Opportunities

What would you have been curious to see more about in terms of character backstory? That is, things which were either never covered or discussed, or only briefly mentioned that deserved further exploration.

Here are some that come to mind:

1) Jean's family. Other than a couple of references, we know nothing about Jean's parents, or if she has any, siblings. I thought that this was a huge missed opportunity, especially when you consider all the attention paid to Lionel's family. I've always found it strange and even a bit frustrating that the series' first-billed star has so little character backstory.

2) Judy's two divorces. I started a thread on this subject years (and years) ago. It would have been interesting to have one of Judy's ex husbands happen by and see how that tests Judy and Alastair's relationship.

3) Sandy's family. Not a thing. Ever.

4) The backstory of Rocky and Alastair's father. All we know is that Rocky loaned Alastair's father money in order to start his publishing house back in 1947.

Yes, not enough about why Judy was married twice and Sandy was written with no substance or background.

We know more about Mrs. Flack's family than we do Sandy's!

As for Sandy being a blank, I wonder what she ever saw in Harry, who always put her second behind his rugby fixation. I agree, Sandy was a severely limited character, which is a shame.
