I know Tim Burton had a 'Pay or Play contract' when it came to him developing a Superman film in the 90's. He walked away from that gig, and still got a hefty sum.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

He also had one for Billy Dee Williams and Marlon Wayans for his Batman movies (Two-Face and Robin respectively) Even though they never played them and was replaced with Tommy Lee Jones and Chris O'Donnell, they still got paid for the roles. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me

When the series first aired ,i thought it ws 'paper plate' contracts. 

Sure would have been a funnier line.

I could be wrong, but I think the line in the theme song is "We have pay FOR play contracts." Which would be a pun on pay-or-play, meaning they get paid to goof off.

EDIT: Never mind, the Please Please Please Get a Life Foundation has shown me the error of my ways.
