What about the music?

Hey,

I am working on a project for a film sound class and I really liked this film and wanted to use it. I was just wondering what other people thought about the music in the film. I would really appreciate any feedback!

Did you notice the music in film? If so what stood out?

What did you think of the street musicians who you see at the beginning of the film and at the end?

Do you like how music was used in the film if so why?

Why do you think jazz music was used?

To anyone who responds thanks in advance!

Ellie

They went straight for the greats James Brown in 1 scene and Ray Charles doing a ballad in another. This is good and bad. On 1 hand, you can't go wrong with the greats, but on the other hand it can come across as auto piloted, hackneyed and too safe. It was okay, but with such an ample canvas to work considering the title and subject matter, it's kind of a shame that 1 talented artist was not contracted to do songs from beginning to end ala Stevie Wonder for Junger Fever or The Woman in Red. Morris Day and the Time, Huey Lewis and the News, Hall and Oates, and Cameo are samples of groups that have shown the humorous itch yet are talented enough to coat every seen with their signature sound that compliments what's happening on the screen.
