Sidney and the mobsters?

There is one thing I still always wonder about every time I see the end of this movie. I can't help but question if Sidney had something to do with the mobsters finding Billy at the hotel towards the end of the movie. Sidney was still in the hotel room when Billy briefly stepped outside on the balcony for no more than a minute. Suddenly Sidney is gone and the mobsters happen to be right there waiting for him, seems a little to convenient
. It also seemed pretty suspicious at the end when Sidney said "see you later" or something like that to the mobsters after they finished photographing Billy's fake death. Perhaps they could have paid Sidney if he led them to Billy? Anybody else ever consider this idea?

I wouldn't put it past that thug. Sidney got money around that time and hook ups as well but his house got robbed at that awful vista views apartment, maybe the mob guys were putting the screws on Sidney. Makes U wonder.

Thug? Only a coward goes on the internet and uses coded racism.

They aren't "mobsters". The whole point of that last scene is to illustrate that they are con-men just like Billy and Sydney. Their pictures are just fake photos they show to make themselves seem intimidating. The last line about "finally being able to show their faces back home" does a good job of indicating how seriously they are taken. If they were really the genuine article, they wouldn't be driving around with photographs that link them to numerous homicides.
