Bout time for a sequel.

I'd love to see Woody and Wesley back.
Maybe there could be some new kids trying to take over the courts, Billy and Sidney get back together to show them how it's really done.

It's been too long for a sequel, it would just be rejected or go unnoticed by everybody.. I'm kind of shakey of making another premise for the movie too.

I fail to see why the ammount of time between films makes any difference.
If they come up with a good plot and script...why not?

Even after Starwars Episode 1 and Godfather part 3?

The time difference ruins the feel for the movie, at least for me. Perhaps it's just being disappointed after expecting it for awhile but, I just don't see how it would work.

Maybe they could do a sequel and call it black men can't swim

I had a plot idea several yrs ago that I thought would work:

[obviously, 20 yrs later]

billy has married & divorced... since his divorce, billy is struggling & finds himself in debt gambling on sports to provide for himself & his son.

billy finds himself back in LA moving his son into his college dorm...

BAM!

Sydney is moving his son into the same dorm.

[unbeknownst to both] both sons are scholarship players for the school.

this ensues the old rivalry. both jabbering about old times, who's son is better, who carried who, etc...

now while this may come across as corny, its wouldn't be hard for some writer to come along and figure a way to get these guys together (a reason why they would have to play).

one example would be...

for years billy has been trying to figure out a way to catch up on his debt as it seem insurmountable... after bumping into sidney... he gets the idea of hustling again. bewildered by the suggestion from billy... Sidney is not on board - he has a simple life, things are good, has a regular 9-5. but his eagerness to reconnect w/ his son pushes him to play in hopes that him & his son can share a common interest; an interest sidney has not had in years since becoming a full-time father of 3... just too busy for anything other than work.

the fun of the movie would be that neither billy or sidney play that much anymore, if at all. the fun would be getting in shape, getting out hustled by the younger generation. but as the movie goes... the bond & chemistry finally comes around.

billy would play to repay his colossal debt to his bookies. sidney would play to reconnect w/ his son, to share a common inetrest.

the only thing is that it would *HAVE TO* remain as authentic as the original.
this is not a pg-13 franchise.

Terrible idea for a sequel. The movie really said everything it needed to say with the first movie.

They might consider a remake (even then I wouldn't do it), but a sequel no way.

maybe the idea is bad... but have u ever played pick-up ball?

if so, then u know that sometimes the "old guys" can still go. and still go at a pretty good rate. basically, (at least in my experience) their style has changed a little. they've just needed to adapt to their aging bodies.

besides, its not as if woody & wes are in terrible shape & couldn't get in better shape for the movie.

regardless... just an idea.
