Was Benjamin really a bad guy?
I personally didn't find Benjamin to be that bad of a guy, he did seem to have some good in him and never really did anything bad unlike most bad guys you see in the movies.

shareHe intended to make Wayne lose his show and steal his girlfriend. That's pretty bad.
Transformers Age of Extinction makes The Happening look like a masterpiece.
Yeah, but in the mega-happy ending, he tells us(in so many words) how he's learned the error of his ways. lol Most bad guys don't do that. Then again, most bad guys don't suffer the indignity of a body cavity search before mending their ways. lol

Insincere people often proclaim they've learned their lesson but he showed no evidence of it.

Do you mean his tongue-in-cheek delivery of the lines? All the actors in the mega-happy ending delivered their's in the same way. AND, going by the fact that the sequel went with what happened in the mega-happy ending, I'd say Benjamin kept his word as Wayne still had the rights/creative control to/of his show and Cassandra wasn't held to the contract she'd signed so could pursue the new one with Mr. Sharp.

Seriously? If he stayed the same as he was portrayed throughout the movie, Wayne couldn't have still been making the show in the sequel or Cassandra signing with Sharpe Records. THAT version of Benjamin would have been like "You signed contracts so I own the show and Cassandra and her band and I'll do whatever I please with them. Including forcing Wayne to not do the show anymore and keeping Cassandra tied to my contract without actually letting her produce a record thus ruining and/or stalling her music career.". Now tell me...is that what was happening in the sequel?
**edit**And, my stating this has nothing to do with whether it's "important to me" or not. It's me observing what's happened in the movies and applying a little logic/common sense to fill in a minor blank. After all, there is a reason why it's called the mega-happy ending. But, as has been my experience, common sense is anything but common.

Haha, about the reaction I expected. The equivalent of a child sticking their fingers in their ears and going "Na na nana nah! I can't hear you!". lol

How's this? He was convincing enough in his words. You act as if he was John Dillinger, he was a guy who loved making money and didn't care who to step on to do it, people like that can easily change if given a little humility (cavity search).
shareI would like to think they did keep him being a good guy and let everyone out of their contracts, but it is also possible they could have done it without his help.
Noah discovered new popularity by having Wayne make fun of him so Noah would have not agreed to keep supporting the show if Wayne didn't get to do it his way. Benjamin would have lost money on the project if he was just being vindictive to Wayne.
I think Casandra only agreed to make the one video with him, which Mr. Big could have had one of his lawyers get her out of, or she could have went back to do the video and went with Mr. Big after.

He used people whenever it benefited him. Like Tia's character says in one line in the movie, "Is that you, or the snake?"
shareWhat Benjaiman did in the film was wrong. Scheming to ruin the show and steal Cassandra from Wayne for himself and also for firing Wayne from the show for humiliating Noah.
shareActually, Benjamin was probably in the right for firing Wayne (RE: Humiliating Noah), although he could have just let him off with a warning/reprimand... but then, we wouldn't have a hilariously funny climax.
shareBenjamin was a mover and a shaker. He used things to his advantage until he couldn't anymore so he dumped him and moved on. That's how business in that world works sadly and he made fools of the whole gang.
He didn't really appreciate Wayne and Garth that much at all. He seen their show when he was with the side chick and realized they seemed odd but had a niche which could appeal to the sponsor and there he went. They were so naive for fame and money that they didn't care and signed it with both no aid from a lawyer and not reading it. They were also screwed over big time on the money. They deserved at least 2 or 3 times more than what they got. If they had either of those they could have realized he was a trickster.
Cassandra only let him around due to Wayne's insistence, it's really his fault for a lot of what happened. Sure she could have said no too but she was sucked in the same way. This part he had no expertise much in and he just wanted her for himself and used music a sponge to hook her.
When it got to do the show he started clashing with them because he didn't get their POV. It wasn't gonna end well and it didn't. It was a mess from the start and got took out of it's misery. Wayne was an idiot for mocking Noah on the show and he had punishment coming but firing on first offense? That's a dick move on Benjamin's part.
I don't think he changed so fast. I think it went to the court's where Sharpe won out. Wayne and Garth may have had it rougher unless Noah took their side or felt the financial loss was too much and cancelled it. They were to be no use by that point in time. Too bad Lowe didn't cameo or return in Part 2 because we have no clue what truly happened. Was it all a joke or did Benjamin mean that? Who knows...
BUMP
shareAll Benjamin did was target a naive person and screw them out of their own TV show which they created as a labor of love, so he could use it for his own benefit. What's bad about that?
