Movies that were spoofed....

I know most of the movies that they spoofed, but what was the one with Bruce Campbell----the "haunted house" one? Anyone know what movie that was???

Thanks!
Stephanie

It was a spoof on the original B&W film "The Haunting."

reply

No, it was a spoof of The Evil Dead 2.

The Haunting, Alien/Aliens, Legend, and the Frankenstein films are given large spoofs, with small ones for Godzilla, Dawn of the Dead, Nosferatu, Jeckyll and Hyde, and Jack the Ripper.

That's weird, my post didn't go through.
Anyway, please, remind me again of how there was any spoofing of Legend in here? I agree with everything else you said, but I don't remember anything remotely similar to Legend(one of my favorite films).

The raining of flowers scene is what comes to my mind. Just having seen the film an hour ago I can definately say that it was more a spoof on "Excalibur"

And the whole living hand thing can be seen as a tribute/spoof of Evil Dead.

But there'd be no real reason to comment on the hand being a spoof in this film when it was already in the first film. The first film was full of homages to MANY other horror films, and I'm sure that the crawling hand could've been an homage to "Evil Dead 2," or even to "The Crawling Hand" or "And Now the Screaming Starts" or "The Helping Hand" or any of the other evil hand movies.

also invasion of the body snatchers and friday the 13th was spoofed too, as well as back to the future

...how can it be a spoof of Evil Dead 2?
Evil Dead 2 wasn't black and white.
Evil Dead 2 didn't take place in a castle.
Evil Dead 2 only had one male lead, not two.
Evil Dead 2 only had one female lead, not two.
Evil Dead 2 didn't feature a 'machine.'
Evil Dead 2 was not about paranormal investigators.

Is Alien Apolcalypse a spoof of Evil Dead 2?
Is Bubba Ho-Tep a spoof of Evil Dead 2?
Is Bruce Campbell's autobiography a spoof of the novelization of Evil Dead 2?

If you're going to call a spoof on its source material, do your homework!

I think he was just being an a s s.

I was saying he was being an as s saying that the black and white ghost story part was spoofing Evil Dead 2 when it obviously wasn't.

As far as the other things you said...
I don't know much about Anthony Hickox, so I have no idea if that's true, but I don't really see the Evil Dead 2 connection that much except for the severed hand(although, since that was carried over from Waxwork, you'd have to say that one also spoofed Evil Dead 2). and I wouldn't say Mark turned into an Ash-like character. He was just the hero of the story. He was the hero at the end of the first film as well. In fact, he was a little more badas s in the first film.

I don't think it spoofed Evil Dead 2...I think it more paid homage to it. Not just because of Bruce Campbell, but more along the lines of graduating from horror to horror/comedy as the series progresses.

On a side note, I don't think the medieval scene is spoofing anything. I think that's where Waxwork II becomes it's own movie instead of borrowing characters and scenes from other films.

And let's not forget "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." There was some of that in there.

Oh, yeah...and "Little Shop of Horrors." "Feed me..."

Don't forget Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!

Oh no the black and white part was totally a spoof of the original "The Haunting". You can tell because the dark haired chick is hinted as being a lesbian (just like in "The Haunting") and the light haired chick is connected to the ghosts (again like in the original).

Casting Bruce Campbell was just a casting choice not to tie it into "Evil Dead 2" or any other movie he was in up until that point and the other poster is also correct in that you can't count the hand as it's a carry over from the first "Wax Works" movie.
