Not without Rifftrax, it ain't

I can't quite join The Cult here.

Both the doc "Best Worst Movie" and the cause celebre, "Troll 2", are currently available for streaming on the sinking ship that is Netflix. Alright, I'm game.

The doc piqued my curiosity enough (though, to be honest, the entertainment value of the doc wanes about halfway through). I'd heard about this movie before, but with the doc fresh in mind, I went straight into the Main Course.

Got about halfway through.

Yeah, I could see how this "so bad it's good" opus could be entertaining if you're on the right combo of mind-altering substances. Actually, merely drunk might be all it takes to get you home. Stone cold sober, not so much.

Yes, it's laughably bad in all phases of its game, but not laugh-out-loud funny. Certainly not while watching it solo. I think you need a ship-o-fools to take the ride with you. Or better yet, the expert hands of Mike Nelson and his Mystery Science/Rifftrax castmates to guide you through.

But dry and alone, the experience grew tiresome at the midpoint and it had to stop.

And I don't think it deserves the "Best Worst" crown in light of masterpieces like "Manos" or most of the Ed Wood oeuvre.

Apologies to the Troll 2 faithful.

I don't think I would laugh out loud at ANY hilariously-bad movie if I were solo. 90% of the fun is having other people there!

You're probably right, but I still think there are other Mystery Science-worthy so-bad-it's-good flicks - like those I mentioned - that I find more entertaining to watch that "Troll 2".

Yeah, the only bad thing about the Rifftrax version is that it's not Mike, Bill and Kevin. It's just Mike and some dude that I've never heard of. They should do a 3 riffer version.
